Subject: Is there any hope of getting a job?! :'(
I have been looking for a job seriously since March of this year.  I had an internship which didn't go well (boss was a liar with saying about paying me on the books and then he said he wouldn't), a job that was part time and I didn't get enough work (if it was full time all year round that would have been great!), and another job which was way to much work for such a small amount of money (it really drained me and sucked even more enjoyment out of life than what already has been).  I had some interviews over this time and one job I could get but isn't good with all the travel (which I wouldn't be reimbursed for, long hours, and the days aren't good and it would be like I am self employed yet working for a company).  Maybe I should look into that more even though I wouldn't make nearly enough money.

I applied to a Lowe's that's being built near me and today I got in the mail that they aren't hiring me but keeping my application on file.  The last time I spoke to a woman on the phone there she asked why did I change my application and I said I need a job and it's close to home.  She asked where I am working now and I told her I don't have a job now.   I haven't been hired for this easy cashier job.  I don't know what I am going to do.  I am angry and so upset now.

It's been 4 months of looking a lot and in January and February I looked but not as hard.  So for 6 months I haven't been able to get anything that's good or even okay.

I don't know what I am going to do.  What do I have to be a criminal to make money to afford to pay things?nbsp; This really has made me feel depressed and I enjoy very few things in life anymore.  My Dad and I argue about me getting a job which I look and look but it hasn't come to much.  I wish I could choose the job I need and would like or not mind doing.  I think there may not be enough jobs out there or most want experience.  Also I am in my early 20's and haven't had any store jobs so that's another strike against me.

How are you supposed to get experience if you can't get one in the first place?!  Thank God that my Mom cared for me and my Dad does.

This is more of venting because you can't really get me a job.  I wish someone could because I look and look and look.   What am I going to do?nbsp;I can't even get a job at a Lowes as a cashier.  I have no idea how I'll get a job with things being like this.  I keep looking and looking.  Advice, some kind words, please some thing.

Yes, there is, but it's never easy to get a job. I know I answered your last eHelp about jobs, etc, so I thought I'd try to help with this one too.

I've been looking for summer jobs along with my sister, and it's really hard, especially now, because you get so many University students come back and take up jobs over the summer, that by now a lot of the 'easy' and less specialised jobs are already taken up. It's a sad fact, but with all these students looking to make money, there's bound to be competition for jobs, even worse than normally. Sadly right now I think you're probably out of luck for the summer period, as most jobs are probably taken. But that doesn't mean you should stop looking. Just walk around town and pop into every shop that you wouldn't mind working at (or every shop as a last resort) and ask them if they have any job placements going. Make sure you look presentable during this time to give a good impression. It won't do any harm and you don't have anything to lose by doing it. That said, would you rather have no job, or have a job doing something you don't like or don't mind? If it's the former, there's probably no point in looking for a job currently.

Just as a general rule, you always start work from the bottom. Very few people will start with jobs they love doing, most work their way up. Getting a small job when you're a teen and then going to college or whatever getting a degree to open up your field. But even then a lot of places look for experience, so it's not a bad idea to get a job doing something minor, and then move on and apply to something better later on. You can't apply for a high-end job straightaway, climb the ladder in small steps.

You might have been more luckier of you looked harder during January of February when the college kids are still working, as at this time they might be more likely to have places. That said, it doesn't really matter now, and don't dwell on that so much. Just keep the future in mind. August/September time is also not a bad time to look, as again students will be off to college, perhaps in other states and have to leave their jobs behind. It is hard to get a job, and it must feel really awful still not having one after 6 months of searching, but don't give up hope. Just keep going forward, and you will find a job that suits you and you will be hired for.

Parents will nag at you for whatever reason, so don't hold that against them. They just care about you and it's really frustrating sometimes when they don't see you doing all these things and they can't appreciate how hard you have been trying. As I said before, start the ladder in small steps, always be on the lookout for jobs being advertised in stores and you can even go to a JobCentre if you have those in the USA and submit your resume that can be looked at by thousands of employers.

I've not held a proper job for a while, and to tell you the truth I'm nervous about it as well, because come this time next year, I'll have finished my first year of University and not having much experience I'm going to be worried as well trying to get a job over the summer. It will be hard, but if we both work at it, we will get there eventually. Keep your eye out all the time, and make sure that if you see a job opening, you be the first to grab that opportunity and hand in a resume or application form.

This probably wasn't all that useful, but I wish you luck with your job endeavours, and I hope it goes well.

I know how hard finding a job can be. And right now with the way the economy is going, jobs are hard to find anyways.

There are many websites that can help you. Monster.com is a good one to help you get a job. Just follow the easy steps and you can search for jobs in your area.

You can also get a newspaper and look up jobs in there. Any where they are hiring, try to put in an application. I understand that you might not was some certain jobs, but you cant be really picky if you dont have much experience and jobs are hard to find anyways. Sometimes you have to take a job you dont like until you can find an opening that you could enjoy. In the end it is about getting a pay check, not how much you enjoy your job. A little bit of sacrifice has to be made to make a little bit of money.

I really hope you find what you are looking for. Good luck on the job search and if you want me to find you the names of the other websites I have used, message me and I can message them back to you.
