First off - Apple has started almost, if not all, everything in the computer world. Steve J. and Steve W. built the first personal computer in Steve's garage. They invented it all. Sure, there may have been computers back in the day that were 7 stories high and 90 stories long, but this is the personal computer. Also, Mac's arn't about looks over performance. Sure, they look the best out there (in my own opinion). However, the G5 was the first commercially avalible 64 bit processor on the market. Also - look at any benchmarks that compare the latest G5 to the latest P4. The G5 just takes it.
I do agree on the gaming factor, there arn't as many games avalible for Macs at the same time of PCs. However, Aspyr does a great job of porting the games to Mac in a reasonable amount of time. Also - if you're going to game, then don't buy a Mac. It's a waste of a great computer.
Don't get me wrong, Windows has come a long way. But - Mac OS X still blows it out of the water. Also, everything thinks Longhorn is going to be crazy and good, but really - it's just Windows XP suped up a little and has better 64 bit support. Woop-dee-do.
My dad had a 6100 (the first Mac that was worth buying) and ever sense then, I've been hooked. I got my first 603e 200mhz UMAX (a Mac clone) in 1996 for Christmas. That thing was a beast. From that point on, I kept getting newer and faster Macs. Not once has a Mac actually made me hate it. Unlike Windows, Mac OS has never crashed for no reason, it's never slowed down due to memory usage, it's never even crashed due to high processor usage. Windows, even XP, crashes because you don't restart your machine within 24 hours. My Mac has been on for probably going on a good 2 weeks now, and isn't slow, isn't complaining about anything, it's like I just started the thing up. Mac OS X definatly takes Windows with that factor.
Well, ending my long post - please forgive me - I'd just like to say:
a) Get your facts straight before you post something and try to sound badass
b) Don't bash Macs just because you're a hard core windows or linux user and have never used a Mac (maybe your experiences with Macs havn't been that great, but get with someone who knows their stuff. You'll like it so much better)
c) Mac's are expensive but as the phrase goes - You get what you pay for
d) Look at how far Apple has come - they were struggling for a while, but look at the iPod...The number ONE MP3 player in the world. Look at the iBook and the PowerBook - both great and popular machines that never fail. Look at the G5 - the first personal computer with a 64bit processor that was avalible to the public.
Also, I almost forgot...When the G4 came out - they couldn't sell it in certain countries because they said that the processors themselves, were too powerful. They were afraid that terrorists would get ahold of them and use them for guidence systems in missiles. Have you ever heard of a PC that can't be sold in a country due to that? I didn't think so - and if you have, was it in the news? This was.
Sorry, once again for my lengthy post - it just erks me when some stupid person thinks a PC is better because they have a good one and they just bash Apple because they've never used one and just assume it's shitty. I also apologize for any spelling or gramatical errors.
