because he still cares about you.
even though y'all like still close... he obviously doesn't just want to be "just friends". the only you can do it be there for him. ask him if he needs to talk because you're a good listener and give good advice when needed. guys hate it when you give advice without them asking. they don't need it unless they ask, most of the time they just need to let out their emotions. if he says nothing... try to let it go but just remind him that you're always there for him no matter what. msg me if you want to chit the chat more.
