There'd be a lot of paperwork and a 2 month period for you to decide. You'd need to get confronted with death over and over again.
too much effort... and you don't really need the government's permission... as long as you die, what can they possibly do? put your corpse in prison for life? (hahahahahahahahahaha... not funny, soz lol)
Well, in Switzerland they will basically kill you if you want to. A bit like the death penalty by meds. I'D find that least painful...and if someone really wanted to die, why not?

yeah, true, in the context of the op's suggestion "if you want to kill yourself the government should let you" the legality of suicide/euthanisia is probably of most importance, though.
