I've been studying acting for two years and I am just so fucking tired of being in school. Half the stuff I have learned isn't what I want to learn - it's not scene work, not stage combat, not anything I like. It's mostly metaphors and creating random stuff and improvising - which is fine, for a little while, but 2 years is way too much.
I have to wait at least another year to start doing any proper scene work and I am just so tired of it. I really actually want a BFA degree (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Acting, but honestly, casting directors and directors usually don't care where you've educated and what you have, as long as you're good and you're what they're looking for.
I mean, look at the actors who have never had any formal training: Kate Winslet, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Keira Knightley, Hillary Swank etc. etc. etc.
I am on the verge of just being like "FUCK IT!" and just sending Steven effing Spielberg an audition tape.
What do you think? Should I stay or should I go?
