It's common with Lexapro and all other SSRI medications for them to worsen anxiety and/or depression for the first couple of weeks after starting. After a couple of weeks this should start to subside along with most other side effects and start to help you with your anxiety. If it doesn't, contact your doctor, you might need to alter the dose, change medication, or take a benzodiazepine along with the Lexapro for a couple of weeks or until the Lexapro starts to fully work.
