RAM on a Dell laptop with Vista

I found these two models of Dell laptops that I'm interested in buying. They run Windows Vista, which I have no problem with. But they only have a GB of RAM. According to my brother, it's really hard to run Vista with 2 GB of RAM. Is that true? I mean, I don't understand why they (they being Dell) would sell a laptop with not enough memory to run the OS.

So yes, thoughts on this?

1GB is fine, but 2GB is preferable. Vista is a hassle, to be honest. Has a bunch of unnecessary crap.
What will you use the computer for?
You're on dial up, you shouldn't complain, either way.

well it depends on what you plan to do with the Dell.

it's true that Vista takes up a shitload of memory, but if you ever need more RAM i guess your only solution would be to just upgrade

Well, no statistics, but I would think that you would need at least 3 GB of ram to run Vista at a normal rate. It's a nice operating system, but the issue is, that they take up a LOT of running space, which therefore, would most likely mean that it takes up a fair amount of ram.

I have xp, and 3 gb of ram, and it takes about 3 seconds to load between offline folders, but it is fast. So then take that, make it massive and big, with a third of the ram. Might not do so well.

And I think dell are just scammers, because not as many people know how much ram it takes to run vista. Of course, people also don't know that all their laptops are made of used materials from older and broken systems.

Always gotta bring my connection speed into things.

We're more than likely switching to satellite internet, so yes. And besides, I can delete a bunch of shit on Vista that I don't need.

So upgrading, eh? How exactly would you go about that? I reeeeally don't wanna do it myself and void the warranty. And I'm pretty sure I can't do it with Dell, because of how I'm buying from them.

Make sure you know what speed and type of ram your motherboard takes before buying.

I play games and all that shizzle on 2gb worth of RAM.

You only really need 2, imo, although you can never have too much memory, of course, unless you are not going to use it.
