They want their designs to be built upon, modified, and redesigned.
That's fine, but do they want their tattoo to be flat out copied? That would be a breach of copyright law, and even if copyright law prohibits the use of other tattoos to create a new one, the law could always be modified for tattoos.
And what if the tattoo stretches or if the person gets it removed? What happens to the fucking copyright?

There's always the paper that the design was originally sketched onto, and if none exists, them I'm sure some allowances can be made so that stretched tattoos are covered. If the person gets it removed, and there are no other copies of the design, then the tattooist has no proof to make a copyright infringement claim, and frankly that's their bad luck. I'm not a lawyer, I just believe that tattooists should have the ability to copyright their original tattoo designs. The loopholes and technicalities can be sorted out if and when it actually becomes a law.

I honestly can't believe you're so ignorant. Next time you're in a tattoo shop, look around and look at all of the designs. Most artists sell their tattoo design portfolios to companies to then be sold to other tattoo artists. These people WANT their artwork to get used, copied, and modified. It shows to them that people appreciate their designs and they're more than happy to let other artists use their exact designs.

No but I know people who have. To be honest it confuses me as to why you'd want it done. The only way anyone is going to see it is if you stick your tongue out, wiggle it around and go "waaaaayyy look at my tongue web piercing!" I suppose there's the pkelasure aspect...but I don't think its really worth it.
