I heard from a few people that macs are like invulnerable to viruses but i don't believe that bullcrap. lol. what do you guys think?

The answer is yes, but the probability of a Mac getting a virus is slim to none. They're unaffected by all the shit that infects Windows computers.

of course they effing can, any system using the internet is at a minimal risk depending on the virus protection, firewall etc.  why would a Mac be any different?

I  think they can...well they probably can, and do, but it doesn't happen half as often as windows.
My dad has had mac's for about...6+ years now and he's never had the trouble of dealing with viruses.

Here's the issue.  90% of viruses are written for Windows because it's been around for longer and was much more mainstream.  Half of the people that use Windows don't know how the hell to use virus protection, so they get viruses.  Mac then exploits the fact that Windows viruses are much more common and have more varied users to create commercials and propaganda showing Macs to be invulnerable.

Yes, Windows are more prone to viruses.  Is this a design flaw?  No.

Simple answer, if you know how to use virus protection, you'll never have a virus.
