Right, before hand I was using some RAM that each were 256x4 = 1GB.

It worked well for the starting whiles. Now its being extremely touchy about the RAM. Sometimes I can get my machine too work with all the modules, however in most cases will only take two modules.

The first two RAM modules are installed side-by-side. One in the blue channel and another in the black one.

When I finally got too see what was going on I got a message saying "CMOS checksum error- defaults loaded"

I tried replacing my battery and that seemed too work. Now I got the issues again. Replaced the battery, nothing.

System:
ASUS A8N5x
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
512MB of RAM DDR
Windows XP Home Edition: Service Pack 2

Anyone have ANY clue as too what is going on here? I've ensured multiple times that the RAM is installed correctly, it just seems too dislike the RAM now for some unknown reason.

Thanks.

Hmm... Try switching the sticks around into different slots. RAM can be picky about which port it is installed in, for some unknown reason.

Are these new? Or have u had them for a while.

If they're new, or once of them is, then make sure they're all the same speed, like DDR PC333. Also getting the same brand will help too.

Two are old, 2 are semi-new and fully supported by the board.

Yeh, but probably not compatible with the other RAM.

I thought that only mattered if it was running in duel-channel with the others. I want it too run just single.

Exactly. It could be that one of them has a flaw in it or something too, unless you've already checked them all individually.

I have. They all worked before as well.

I'm currently running 512MB again. I got the gig of RAM too work for maybe 5 minutes then the computer crashed and didn't startup again until I reverted back to 512.
