first mistake, using windows server OS...i have in the past and they errored out like CRAZY...get linux ive had mine up for 40 days without a glitch (until the power went out) and i had sooo much messed up config files on there...its good but ill see if i can help you lemme just look around and think awhile

it's ok its sorted, there was a few problems with it at first, like timing out but it is running smoothly now with no problems :)

lol, well I think its one of the worst server os's on the planet... as it takes up way to much power from the system and it has to be rebooted for matinance (who the hell came up with that idea!? you should never have to reboot a server unless you upgrade the os; or upgrade the kernel)

Though I am quite used to bsd, and the way it runs.. idleing with kde 3.1 the thing runs at 0.0 to 0.1 load and uses 8mb of ram - Windows Server 2003 takes like what? 90 or so megs of ram to idle and quite a few more cpu cycles.

There is a reason why the worlds largest websites are NOT powered by windows, and there is a reason why all but one highest uptime record on netcraft is held by a bsd box... the one that isnt bsd, was powered by linux. - Just as a side note: Windows has never made it to that list yet; as average uptimes are around 1,200 days.

1200 is still  alot, for a home server. the only reason we didnt go for linux is because of our dvd player software, isn't supported, and my dad wanted to learn more about Server 2003
