so over the past 2 years I've gained some weight due to lack of energy to do anything because of depression. Well, I'm a hundred times better than I was 2 years ago and want to shed these pounds, because it's made me unbelievably self-conscious about myself. I need to lose probably.... 20 pounds. Now, before I became depressed I was very athletic, lots of sports, in very good shape, so I have no doubt that when I start exercising the pounds will shed very fast.

I'm wanting to go biking as my exercise each day. Does biking help a lot as far as getting exercise goes? I know exactly where I would be biking to and from my house, and it's 12 miles all together. Would 12 miles of biking every day (or maybe 5 days a week) be very healthy? Keep in mind I pretty much have had no exercise whatsoever for the past 2 years. (like literally none, due to agoraphobia).

if you read all of this thank you

I also forgot to mention that my eating habits are fine, I don't eat a lot, and what I eat is generally healthy. Exercise is literally the only thing keeping me from losing the weight.

First of all, WELL DONE!! I'm so happy to hear that you are over your difficult times, and hope you have many wonderful times to come.

I think that 12 miles a day will undoubtedly work wonders for you! That is a LOT of exercise, and you will see the pounds dropping pretty quickly, probably 2-3 a week I would estimate, depending, of course, on your diet. It looks good to me. Good luck!

I'm glad to hear this! I knew 12 miles was quite a bit, but I just wasn't that sure if biking was a whole lot of exercise.
