I was just wondering if all things they say you shouldn't eat when you have braces was really a threat to the amount of time you have to wear them, or just a way that saves them money. cause I just got em and I just wanna get em off as soon as possible.

There are some things you shouldn't eat...but it doesn't affect the length of time you have to wear them. You shouldn't chew gum, or eat ice cubes..or anything really hard like that. I didn't listen...and broke the wire off 3 times.

You can break the brackets/wires on the actual braces themselves, which means more trips to the orthodontist to get them fixed. And if you don't get them fixed, then a) you may well cut yourself a hundred times on bits of wire in your mouth and b) they'll be doing you no good.
