Go to My Computer, right click on drive, and select format. Done.

Unless of course, you have a Mac. Different story then...

you needed to do this anonymously?  anyway, it depends on your OS... older windows, you can format it through DOS, but in XP and later, you're going to need a CD, or a pirated copy of windows (not that i would know anything about pirated windows *shifty eyes*)

If your operating system is on the same drive the system will not allow you to format. if it's on another partion right click on the drive and format.

If it's on the same drive you have to realise that once you format you will loose all data, including your operating system. make sure you have a disk of windows or some sort of recovery disk which includes audi and graphics drivers.

I use Partionmagic from norton which allows you to partion hardrives which is a lot better, since the risk are much smaller.

If you want to format a computer there are different ways to do it:

If you have a computer you brought from a shop like a Packard Bell or Dell computer then they normally have this program which lets you restore your computer back to the way it was when you first brought it. The instructions to use the program are normally in the booklet that came with your computer. My computer has different selections like i can format my computer but keep my personal documents or just format the whole computer.

If you do not have a program like this then you will need your boot disc e.g. ( XP disc, Vista Disc ) you will then need to put the disc in and restart your computer, if your computer does not boot from discs automatically at the start then when your computer restarts press F8 ( i think its F8 ) a menu will come up and select that it boots from CD. It will then restart. Follow the on screen instructions.

Please note.

Do you really want to format your computer?

Formatting will get rid of everything on your computer, this includes your my documents, your files and folders and everything.

If you do not want to this but your computer is slow or infected with a virus then may i suggest:

If your computer is affected with a virus i suggest scanning your computer and trying to remove the virus. You can scan with many different anti-virus software try downloading some free software or try this link: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm?s_cid=sah this anti virus software can scan your computer for virsues, spyware and it can clean up your computer by getting rid of "junk" such as temporary internet files which can slow down and clog up your computer.

You could also try degrament:

Disk Defragment reorganises your computers system files which can become scattered and separated.. this can help increase performance.. it does not do anything bad to your computer or move files that are needed in a certain place to get to this software:

Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Defragment.

Hope this helped.
