It's hard to judge a OS that's not even in BETA stages yet. MS will ALWAAYS be a target as long as there are holes to exploit and disgruntled people to do the exploiting. They really need to take their time, not hurry LH out like they did with ME and just maybe they can get a stable OS out without a bazillion patches that mess with ports. SP2 is a train wreck as far as I am concerned. If anything people should wise up and see how SP2 has problems with only certain software companies like CA which makes awesome security products but sadly are not pre-installed like Symantec is. I bought ez-armor for mine and even after deleting every shred of NIS even the registry keys, SP2 conflict told EZ Armor that  Norton was still there, giving me no option but to take it back and exchange it for NIS 05.

I wish there was a linux that ran over windows. Windows would still be installed and the apps for windows would still be there, and the registry would still impact on your computer, but a linux system would then run over it and you would see everything in the gnome gui. Linux would also fix the microsoft security holes and instability when running over it. That would be nice.

Sounds liek you want to use a shell. I am sure it could be implimented. However it would assuredly cause conflicts as most anything that doesn't play well with MS products. I just keep dual OS's.

Yeah, I've used it with DSL (damn small linux, a 50meg live debian distro)  and it works fine.  It is a little slower because you are running windows underneith it but you can't avoid that.

I have not tried it with a hard disk image because I can just run dsl from an iso file.

i heard about and i also heard of the day of it's launch being in the press. but that info i can't tell u .

i also seem to think that when everyone installs it the hackers are going 2 crash it the same day.

i personally work on both macs and windows but my windows tower keep fragmenting so much that they slow down a lot meaning i hate them

love the mac it don't crash

Dont know if this point has been made, cuase i havn't read any of the post but bythe time longhorn comes out 10.4 maybe 10.5 will come out for mac.  Also a lot of longhorn has been slimmed down because the developers couldn't do a bunch of stuff.
