I think when you're looking from the outside, you immediately think that the guy who is older is taking advantage of the girl and that the girl is only young and naiive. I admit this happens, but it's not the case all of the time. You really cannot help who you like and who you fall in love with. When I was fourteen I went out with a nineteen year old and it was wrong to be honest, but I loved him and he loved me. We split up because it was complicated (we had to hide it from our families etc) but two years later, we are still friends.

I think age gaps should be avoided when you're in your teens, it's way too much hassle and trouble. I'd say stick to a three year boundary until you're about eighteen. It's nobody's place to point and say that it is wrong - If you're an adult, there is NOTHING wrong with it. However, I think there has to be certain rules and laws to protect younger people.

When I was 16, I dated a 31 year old.

When I was 18, I dated a 27 year old.

Amazingly, at 20 years old, my current 'significant other' is 3 months YOUNGER than me.

And, at 13, I dated someone a year younger. For four years.
