Age makes no difference at all if you want to be with the person or not... What makes a difference is maturity. Everybody matures at different ages. Guys mature slower so at 18 he's probably maturing the same as a 16 year old girl... BUT he does have more responsibilities if he's in college and the girl is in high school, which means he's maturing a little faster than this high school girl. Yeah it doesn't make a difference with anything as long as you're in like/love whatever right? Wrong... If one person is setting more mature goals than the other person, it's not gonna work long. One person is wondering what they're gonna wear to the interview of their hopefully life long career while the other is worrying what to wear to the homecoming game... If you can both work together with each others goals, responsibilities, and such in life and you can mature equally together then it'll be fine. But if one of you is more ahead than the other then you won't be fine.

The question is not "does age make a difference?" because it doesn't...
The question is "does maturity make a difference?" because it does...

Yes there is a safe gap so it's not 'sick' and 'wrong' and stuff, but that's for the person to decide and everybody's own opinion. My opinion is 3 years... anymore than that doesn't feel right to me... what do I know though, I'm still only 19...

Some of you are taking this girls mature faster thing a little too far. It's true that girls physically mature a bit faster, but that differential is generally wiped out by the late teen years. Girls tend to reach their peak of physical development at about age 15 or 16; but thereafter, the guys suddenly shoot up to their full adult growth at about 18. So please stop shouting this mantra about girls maturing faster as the answer to all questions. It is not some big psychological differential that explains the many mysteries of life.

I don't believe that age matters. I'm 16 and my boyfriend is 19. Yeah, he's been through a lot more than I have, but I am the happiest I have been in a long time. Age is just a number.

I think age difference has to do with your age--
30-37 isnt a big deal, but 12-19 is, same amount of difference, its the ratio thats a big deal.

my rule of thumb is that you have wonder if you are with someone who is more than 25% older or younger

like if your 12, then anything up to 15 is ok, but if your 16 then it goes up to about 20. When you see 15 year old girls with guys in their mid 20s you have to doubt where there motives are, theres also the legal issue if they have a sexual relationship

but some people say it does when your younger, just say your 14 and you go out with someone whos 19, theres 5ysz difference. but when your older and your 22 and go out with somine whis 27, it doesnt rlly matter.

Im not going to sit here and say that age doesnt matter because it's different situations it does matter. Age should not be a factor of liking someone or not. but if your 13 and your to date a 20 y/o, thats just different. but when your 21 and 29 thats also different yet the say years apart. Im dating someone whos 20 and im 17.

I think that age difference is less of an issue than the circumstances surrounding the relationship. It would be hard for an elementary school student to date a high school student, or a high school student to date a college student, or a college student to date someone who is employed at a career-based job.

I think that it's not so much age that matters, but circumstances. Usually if a couple has completely different priorities in their lives, sometimes that can get in the way of the relationship.

i really don't think and age difference of 2 years really matters. i started dating my boyfriend when i was 16 and he was 18. i really don't think it matters until you're dating a woman or man that are your parents age. that is whats disgusting. is cradle robbing. but other than that it shouldn't matter unless you know what you're doing and what you're capable of doing. either that or until your parents find out and threaten the person you're dating with statutory rape. my mom threatened my boyfriend all the time when i was still 16. she kept saying that if i wound up pregnant that she was going to have him in jail for supposedly having "unwilling sex". whatever, then i turned 17 and she didn't care anymore. you just have to know what you're doing thats all. like i said 2 years is nothing and it shouldn't matter.
