Well, yes, I use openoffice most of the time, but the point was for something that could embed pictures, and was lightweight. Openoffice is lighter weight than word, but its still an intense program. I would really like something built for note taking. I find OneNote to be ok, but its expensive and their really isnt a good crack for it.

The only thing I can think of that even remotely comes close would me Microsoft's OneNote. It's a program specifically designed for note taking and I believe it has everything you're needing. Although it's a part of their Office suite and alas, not free...

I think OneNote is probably the best program for note-taking out there. Not that I'm pro-Microsoft, but I've used other free and proprietary note-taking software and none of them have the ease-of-use or seamless integration that OneNote has. And if taking notes from stuff online is a big thing for you, then OneNote is a must, as you can screen-capture things directly into there, etc. Also, if you use a tablet PC like I do, the handwriting-to-text converter comes in handy as well. The only bad thing I can think about it is the high price, but personally, it is worth the price.

Im gonna get it, unless anyone knows anything about lotus notes. Ill look for a good download, or grab a product code from school. I was screwing around with it in class today again (last time I used it was like a year ago, and I used it ALOT for a report) and I must say, it seems like it will be the best. It ran great on the POS computers the school has to. Ironicly enough, I have a tablet PC, but it runs linux, and I already have a program from there.
