I want to get a new one, one that is lightweight with zoom and a decent size memory. Any ideas?

I have a Sony Cybershot, and it's pretty good. Quite basic, but I enjoy it.

How much zoom are you looking for?

That's a good one. It does come in different colors.

This is the one I bought. Fujifilm FinePix, 3x optical zoom :) As for memory, that's up to you to buy an SD card.

Remember, Decent Lens > More MP

And when you're talking about memory, these days they usually need memory cards. The SD Card standard is the most common one, you can get 2GB SD cards for <$50.

I'd recommend the Canon Powershot A5xx and A6xx line. If you have the money the Canon Powershot G7 and G9 are also great choices (though more expensive than the previous ones).

I've heard good from Nikon's Coolpix range of cameras which I've neve used. I've used and owned a lot of Canon compacts, and I can say they are a great choice, offer reliable products and are a great value for money.

I wouldn't recommend that, purely from the tiny size of the lens and the sensor. Although you'd get 3x zoom, I think the lens is going to be so wide (angle) anyway that it won't have a large focal length range.

How much are you planning on spending on it? Getting 10x zoom, I don't think, is pretty realistic on a camera that is classified as "lightweight", those tend to be the more professional cameras, and thus are larger.
