i know a guy who "he" created SrevIM, but its just been revealed its a copy of spark IM, with absalutly nothing changed exept the logo and some text. he has claimed he created it, its 100% own by srevspace.

it isn't and he is a lier aswell as a thief.

SrevIM is in violation of the LGPL in that it does not provide a copy of the LGPL license, Spark source code, or information on how to obtain the source code. Although all below is not actually stating the violation but stating information and changes about the software from the original source code provided by Spark.

All user data is stored in {User Profile}\Spark.
The client itself is advertised as version 1.0.0 on the main website and splash screen, but displays the Spark version (2.5.5.stable1) number in the "About" dialog.
All instances of the Spark logo and name have been replaced with the SrevIM logo and name, though the Java theme used is unchanged.
Most of the icons have been changed from the Spark client to ones copied from both proprietary and open source products and/or services.
Text fields to specify a Jabber server have been removed or hidden, you may only connect to the "hce.sytes.net" Jabber server.
Other features, such as conferences, extended profile data, and broadcasts have been inexplicably removed from the UI.

the guy is only 15, how much trouble would he proberlly be in right now?

I wouldn't think too much. Seeing as how the original Spark client is open source under the Lesser GNU General Public Licence and he isn't making the SrevIM for sale, all he should need to do is include the LGPL and publish the source code/make it freely available. He should also give proper attribution to the original content creator somewhere in the program or a readme file.

Regarding the icons:

Most of the icons have been changed from the Spark client to ones copied from both proprietary and open source products and/or services.
You should backtrack and find the original logos. Make sure you only use logos that are allowed to be distributed and give proper attribution to those. Do not use logos/icons that are proprietary or are distributed under a licence where you cannot use such icons/logos.

Warning: This is not legal advice and shouldn't be taken as such

No, he could still be sued even if he was 15.
