Do you believe that people are more 'likable' as soon as they enter a relationship? As a girl, I find a man more attractive if he's already got a girlfriend...

Maybe it's a sign that they are datable or something, that others want them too.

Guys, are girls hotter when they date others? Vs. a girl whpo has been single for years?

Most people are too insecure to trust in their own instincts so they need peer approval. I think you could argue that people only want attractive mates just to feel superior to others.

I think, for some women, they sense confidence in a guy who's taken.  For some guys, it's really just a conquest thing.  From experience, when I see a cute girl with another guy I wonder, "How long would it take me to make her mine?"
