Did you ever bother to learn music theory, or (and this is for those who HAVE done this anywas) did you just sort of learn how to read music for your instrument.

yeah. i play piano, flute and guitar, and im grade 8 abrsm on flute and piano, and i dont do grades on guitar, and ive done my grade 8 theory. it helps, so much.

i took a music theory class last semester at school focusing on 4 part harmony (soprano, alto, tenor, bass stuff). personally i found it helped for understanding chord progressions and inversions and all kinds of stuff.

I took two semesters of advanced music theory at Yale my senior year in high school, then this year I studied Fugue and Sonata form with my Boco professors (one of which taught at Julliard)
