i made prior plans with somebody to meet them at 5 PM at an event tomorrow, and my mom was going to make me an appointment with my therapist tomorrow too. i told my mom to make it at three or four, but that i have to be at this event at 5. so today i find out that she made the appointment at 5. i told my mom that i cant see my therapist tomorrow because i had already made plans prior to when she made the appointment. my mom was just yelling at me and verbally abusing me because i refused to go tomorrow. i told her that i'm trying to be more responsible with people by not being late anymore, and she kept yelling at me and did not listen to a word i said.

anyways, do you think it's right of me to tell my mom that i am not going to go to the appointment with my therapist tomorrow? i mean, i had already made plans at that time, and she KNEW THAT too! she gave me the guilt trip. now i feel really bad, when i think there is nothing to really feel bad about, but i'm not sure.

did i do the right thing?

thanks...

Can't you just explain to the person you made plans with that you have an appointment with the therapist? If you tell them it all got messed up and you double booked (or your mum did), I'm sure they'll happily meet you earlier or later.

Can't you meet them in the morning and spend all day with them? If not, I'm sure an hour won't hurt. Or arrange to see them another day maybe?
