Indie comes from the word independent, right? But most bands that are considered indie are signed by record labels thus making them not "independent" bands.
People argue, "indie music is a sound". But so many bands with a wide variety of sounds are considered indie. So what is the sound that is associated with indie music?

Since it is, people continuously try to look and love more real Indie bands but they're often not that good because they're going more amateur.

When I hear 'indie' I think of pop or rock that is kind of mellow and a bit unpolished. It's also usually not that well known, although sometimes it's totally well known, and not independent, and people still call it indie, so... I guess it's really a matter of opinion.
