Right. There can be genuine love in a family. But love is not a guaranteed thing. It can fade, it can break, it can change. Loving someone simply because you share the same mother is no reason to love somebody.

It can so be explained. It's an impulse of your brain. When your brain sees the traits in others that it likes, it releases chemicals that make you like them. The more time you spend with them, the more your brain gets what it needs, and the brain's natural impulse when it finds something that it needs (that makes it happy) is the emotion that we know as love.
