I have a few problems I don't understand on my homework...I just need help on HOW to set these stupid problems up to find the answer!!

(1) a ball thrown vertically upward is caught after 2.63seconds. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2. Find the initial velocity of the ball in units of m/s.

(2) a Fathom is approx. 6ft. in length. If the distance to Mars is 3.46 x 10^7 miles, what is the distance in Fathoms?

(3) the velocity of transverse waves produced by an earthquake 3.69 km/s, while that of longitudinal waves is  6.9003 km/s. The transverse waves arrived 52.2 seconds after the longitudinal waves. How far away was the earthquake in units of km?

thank u in advance...

i assume you know the equations for this so i'll just tell you which ones will help...

1. time(up)=velocity(initial)/g, time(up)=time(total)/2
2. 5280ft/mi=1, fathom/(6ft)=1
3. distance=velocity(difference)*time, velocity(difference)=velocity(longitudinal)-velocity(transverse)
