My MacBook running Mac OS X Leopard is suddenly having trouble connecting to the internet and I'm not sure what's going on. At first it told me that Airport could not find an IP address and so I manually entered my PC's address (that's where the Internet comes from) and now it's telling me that this IP address is in use by 00:07:e9:b0:80:7a and I have no idea what this is. Help?

If you're using wifi and at the airport I know some airports charge for use of their wifi in which you must pay up front before using.

Probably too many people using it =/ It probably couldn't find one not in use without causing an IP conflict

That's another MAC (Media Access Control, not related to Mac) address on your network. set it back to dhcp autoconfig

You have to use a different IP address, that might be on and using it hence it doesn't work. Try a different number perhaps one, ten or two greater or lower than the current one.

For example mine is always at 10.0.1.5. Try 10.0.1.15, or 10.0.1.25, etc.

That number-letter combination is the hardware or MAC address of the computer using it.

When I set it back to autoconfig, it started telling me again that it can't find an IP address.

It has to be on. The other PC's in my house are getting Internet just fine, just like always. It's only my macbook.

uh, no. not the airport. airport is a mac thing that lets people connect wirelessly to the internet.

and to the op, you've gone through network connections, then diagnostics and all that? try turning the airport off and then back on again.
