My dog has been having skin irratations for a while now, but we thought it was from her being in heat, so we just wiped her down with something for that purpose. That has seemed to go away, but there is a weird bump on her head, and her EARS ARE SWOLLEN SHUT (I being the first one to noticed, just noticed this like 5 minutes ago, she's a chihuahua and until she flapped her ears making a wet pus sound, didn't realize). There is yellow pus, and she's like scratching her ears and they're bleeding. I don't think she can hear (in either ears, one is worse than the other, but they're both swollen shut)because I tell her to stop scratching and she doesn't even acknowledge me talking to her. Obviously, she needs to go to the vet, but I don't know what vet she goes to, my moms at work and hasn't taken my call, and I'm freaking out....how much does it cost to treat something like that at the vet...

Cost will vary depending on the vet you use, and what the infection is and is caused by.

A theory though...fleas and ticks in the ears can cause nasty infections. And ears, whether they stand or lay down, need to be cleaned.

My mom cleans her ears...I have ear wipes right now but I don't want to make it worse by cleaning it, do you think I should?

Until a vet sees her, keep everything out of her ears. And let her outside only long enough to do her business then bring her right back in.

You can call emergency hotlines and they can give you an idea of how much it will cost, roughly.

I think it might be better to call a vet that's nearby and see if they can tell you what you can do until you get a chance to take your dog to the vet.  See if wiping it or if you should just make sure she doesn't scratch it, is something that you should do.  You may be able to talk to someone, if you call a vet nearby or something, or even a vet hospital or the like.  Not sure, but we call our vet and ask them their take on things, and whether or not we should bring our dog in.

Does it matter? Ur pets sick then u get it sorted dont you. U get by.

If theres puss, smells and swelling I dont think anyone should touch it anymore or try other methods. Just get to the vets
