So I'm checking online to see the textbooks I need and one class doesn't even have a textbook assigned yet and another class seems to keep changing textbooks! Should I hold off to buy or what...? Classes start on Monday.

Another thing, I want to buy online, but does the book need to be the same edition or am I allowed some leeway in that? Because I saw a paperback of one of the textbooks I need (but an earlier edition) and it's sooo much cheaper.

There isn't even a teacher listed yet, thank you.

Wait until after the first class, as you shouldn't need a textbook on the first class.

I would just wait it out. Don't by anything if they seem to keep changing. Wait until class starts, then bring up your issue with your textbooks. If they ask why you don't have one, explain what happened and that you were unsure a of what to do.

They should understand.

what school are you going to? Cause the two schools I've been to, you signed up for a class by section # which listed the professor, then you are able to find them in the faculty directory.

Usually it is best to make sure the editions match. Mostly for ease of finding the page that your teacher is referencing, but the editions are sometimes really different.

Never buy books first without consulting with your Professors. Also, be wary of buying used books both in bookstore and ecpesially online, because I once bought a used textbook online and when it arrived, it was marked beyond belief throughout the book and was not even 1/2 readable for the most part, and I spent like $34.00 at the time, and it was nonrefundable.

Sometimes, the professors aren't listed. One may have quit, or died, and it becomes "STAFF" or "TBA" teaching. Not that uncommon.

this is true.

but, when you find out who your professor is, ask them what editions you can use. You might be able to use, say... the 9th edition, instead of the 10th edition, and save 100 bucks.
