So I always thought of Coldplay as being pop music but some people on here tell me it isn't classified as that.

Wiki says:

Pop music will have a noticeable rhythmic element, catchy melodies and hooks, a mainstream style and traditional structure. However pop can also just be music charted by the number or sales, plays, etc., that the work receives.

Describes Coldplay no? What else can it be classified as?

Well I mean "pop" music as a specific sub-genre of popular music. Otherwise you would have to include basically any music that isn't classical.

Basically all of the songs I have heard from them have a traditional structure. "Mainstream sytle" well I'm not really sure what that means tbh.
