working in a nursery is really fun, I did after-school work experience for 6 months and had a great time. I was lucky that I ended up in a really happy and very forward thinking nursery that was a great nurturing environment. it really changed how I look at caring for children, and I'll definitely draw on that experience as a parent.
try and be as positive as you can be, little children really respond to your behaviour and your attitude. keep smiling, and think carefully about your tone of voice - keep it high and sing-songy. if you act stressed, they'll get stressed and everything will become more bothersome.
get used to repetition - they tend to like the same stories and the same activites over and over. it does get boring.
and don't be a princess, you'll just annoy the nursery nurses and that will not work in your favour. get stuck in, and don't get too grossed out, especially during lunch times. little children do not a neat mealtime make.
have fun!
