What is the alternative?

Social Security taxes are relatively a small part of the chunk that is removed from paychecks. If SS is still going to be around facing the same issue, I'd rather see that small portion get taken never to be seen again then a new larger tax levied on me.

In my perfect world, everyone would be self-sufficient and nobody would rely on anyone else, making taxes obsolete.

But then, everyone would have to be their own doctors and mechanics and whatnot. I think I'll just pay taxes.
