It was very strange and freaky.. Which made it scary.
Had no idea what was going to happen..
But i have a question.. I didn't get the whole pausing and rewinding in the movie.. I liked it.. But i didn't get it!!
the whole talking to the camera too.. That just made it even more scary. I also don't see why this movie was Rated R? but besides all of this.. I loved it! Watch it if you haven't..

Okay, I watched it OP. You have to understand that the original film and this remake are not intended for entertainment value only. They are meant to be a critique of media violence, how people have been desensitized through over exposure and the law of diminishing returns. Talking to the camera, particularly in the demeaning tone that Paul uses when he asks if we'll "bet" as well or when he lectures us condescendingly on the conventions of plot development are intended to indict us, the movie going audience, for indulging the cookie-cutter escalating violence in movies. The rewind scene portrays one of many breaks with convention (like the fact that none of the victims survive) in order to show the escalating level of gruesome torment both the victims and the audience are subjecting themselves too.
It was really quite an amazing movie. I think I'll rent the original soon. The actor who plays Paul looks quite creepy (though I think a lot of the deadpan humor will be lost in a foreign language).

Why, you act as if you have never seen a (poor attempt at a) social commentary on violence before.
I do think it is an interesting movie and raises some questions people in this day and age should probably be asking themselves, however, Haneke completley failed at that point and as such Funny Games becomes a senseless exercise in violence which is sad, because it really isn't all that violent.

I disagree. He made his point completely, and the fact that so many will watch the movie and buy into the violence and ignore the rest is just proof of his thesis as a whole.

It was really quite an amazing movie.

That was my favorite part, as a matter of fact. All the professional reviews went on and on about how he used gruesome violence to make his point, but in reality there was hardly any explicit violence. The camera was pretty violence shy.
