It is my first fourth of july without my best friend. She died in city near Qatar. There was an IED on the side of the road and it hit her and she passed. I remember her home coming. I was in Nellis AFB, and saw them bringing her home. And I remember being in my greens holding her niece's hand. Her niece was 4, she looked at me and said, "See, she came home, she said she would come home". Yea, she came home, but in a different way. I am spending my fourth with my fiance. But she will be in my heart today. She was two months shy of coming home.
I miss you Tracy. You were my battle. I went this morning to her grave and gave my respects. I only show up in my greens for you, you know they are bitch to put on. But as you guys celebrate the fourth, remember those who died in the past and present. God bless them and their families, for they paid the highest price.

All Gave Some, Some Gave All.

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.  ~Erma Bombeck

Death is a hard subject to deal with, even talk about. I can't exactly say I know how you feel about losing a friend, but I can relate. keep your chin up, and have a good 4th of July.

I would rather be lost in a book than reality.
