Did you, your parents or grandparents emigrate to America from Africa? Where in Africa do you originate from? If I were to move to America and become an American citizen, then I would be an African American. Even though I'm white. Cos I am an African. Can you really say YOU are African? bcs being an afro-american means a lot .
and i wanted to comment on the last question u 've asked : this one about the country or location do black come from.i guess it should have an answer.bcs it's quite sure that european have taken black(slaves) from specific places i mean it should be one of these places :senegal,cote d'ivoire,gambia,sierra leone..i mean it's rather impossible to bring slaves from such places as kenya,malawi or zambia..of course it's due to many reasons which i'm not gonna to mention it since it's expected to be known..well that's my point of view : i'm not racist !

That's a fair point. Any American descendants of African slaves can trace their origin with reasonable certainty to West Africa. But that's not good enough for you?

That aside, I actually agree. You're an African American when you've got some reasonable tie to Africa. Tunisian immigrants here are African Americans. Afrikaaner immigrants are African Americans. Black people whose families were brought here as slaves generations upon generations before my families left from Europe are black, but can you really say that they're African American?

Let me ask your question back at you... Because how did America come to be? By Europeans going there and killing off the locals, stealing their land and claiming it as their own. But thats half off the topic. Being black is just a color. Its not an ethnicity.

Of course I know that the colonists and Conquistadors that founded this country did horrible things to the natives and destroyed them, the land, and stole everything from them. That is something I discuss avidly.

If black is not an ethnicity, then how come they are so brutally oppressed by the white controlled government? Bad luck?

your ancestors are from africa. you can trace them back to africa. so that makes no sense.

maybe your ancestors within 400 years but after that they were in africa.
