i don't get it...at all

currently, my parents have NO MONEY at all.  like i just lent them 600 bucks for something... and this is fine because things are bad right now with gas and stuff and i am fine helping them out.   but if they can't afford anything why then hell are we going today to go look at RV's?    it doesn't make sense, they need to borrow 600 bucks to pay a debt yet they are willing to consider spending 100,000 or more on something that can only be used for a third of the year...i just don't get it.

My ex's mother is exactly like that. Just a few days ago, she was bitching her husband out because she wanted to buy a $1,400 turtle cage for her son's pet turtles. Her husband asked her if they could look at a cheaper one and she said they couldn't because the cheaper ones are ugly and she "has to look at it"...which she doesn't because it's outside or something...

And yet, they can't afford to pay their bills or even buy enough food for their kids...

Parents like that don't really seem to listen, as the OP's response would show. My ex tried the same thing and his Mom ended up threatening to throw him out of the house.
