Yeah that was the worst. The audio was really bad. I was just listening to an interview from 1986 and it was only audio. It was the worst thing I've ever heard (not really THE worst) but it was sooo bad.
Every time I try to listen to music from the 70s, 80s or 90s I get this distortion. It's the new music that sounds acceptable but I don't like a lot of what's coming out.
I also watch these videos that are from the late 70s all the way to the early 2000s and the quality is bad.
How would audio and video technology change in the future? can you explain in details please?

I'm not that picky about quality it's just that I can tell it's pretty bad.

HD is stunningly life-like, though, I doubt its going to get much better than that.

High-def will become more common, we'll eventually popularise and make it easier to record 3D visual data, more accurate sound recordings and better surround sound, etc.

Back in my day we didn't have your fancy-pants MP3s, we would hold a cassette player up to the television or the radio and record music off of there. And we walked uphill both ways in the snow, and liked it, got dang it.

what are you listening to that sounds distorted? the trend from the 80s especially in terms of cd recordings has been viciously ravishing all audio recordings, in terms of quality things tend to be more fucked than they used to be

what specifically are you listening to? recording capabilities were actually pretty decent even some decades back but if its homemade audio and video the recordings tend to be absolutely terrible

i thought you were talking about music or something. i was reading an article today called "the death of dynamic range" showing how audio quality is actually getting progressively worse

I listen to plenty of older recordings (mainly music) and it really depends on who was doing the recording and how much money the sound equipment cost.  Better equipment meant better sound quality and it was up to the recording engineer to record it right and know how to use a soundboard.  Recording decent quality was more than running through a laptop.

To clarify, I mean television as we know it.

3D television, or interactive programming will inevitably come out at some point, I'm sure.
