job background check?

When you apply to a job and they do a background check could they find out how much money you have?  An example is someone who is wealthy applying to a supermarket to work there.  Would they be able to find out you're wealthy?

I AM NOT SAYING ME!!  What if you don't have a job now so don't have any job income but from other things?
