I've always wanted to play this instrument since I was very young. In 8th beginning band, we had to select which instrument to play and I wouldn't choose saxophone but I didn't want to rent so I borrowed a trombone from my middle school. By the end of the year I was pretty much a virtuoso trombone player. My band teacher at the time recommended that I skip onto Windensemble. I bet you anything if I pick it up I could master the damn thing within ~5 months. It sounds soo cool I wanna play it. I'd play the piano, except its too mechanical and boring. How the fuck do you do vibrato on piano? That's right, you can't.

Saxaphones are fucking SEXY.
I played an Alto for about 5 years and a Tenor for about 3.

actually, you can. and once you learn one instrument from the winds, brass, strings, and percussion, you can pretty much play any instrument. if you can play trombone so well, then you will pick up sax in about 2 months. it only took me 1 month to learn french horn good enough to play in concert band, before that, i was a clarinetist and percussionist.

Size

Tenor is much deeper, and then Baritone sax is even deeper than Tenor.
The bigger, the deeper pitch and vice versa.

You've been in band how long, and you don't know the difference?
That's incredibly pathetic.

I've played Tenor for a few years, and, after many years of clarinet, it's insanely easy.

Go for it! I want to learn how to play the saxophone, too. It's so funky. I knew a kid who could make a saxophone solo sound like a guitar solo, just by the sheer speed of the notes. He was amazing!

Your right, the piano is a little rigid. Hence the name piano. It was originally called the pianoforte, because it can only play in piano and forte. You can't change the volume in the middle of a note like you can with wind instruments. But people got lazy and shortened it to piano. C, ppl were no diffrnt 300 yrs ago.

Have you not been in a high school band class?  The Woodwind/Brass war is even worse.
