The government are the ones who protect us. God bless America.

Suuuuure they are. Here, I'll throw another quote at you.

Hermann Göring, Second in command of the Nazi Party:

Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship. ...voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

Oh how times have ... well, not changed.

Patriotism is the easiest way to manipulate people; make them think it is honorable to support a nation at an early age and teach them the value of such - "patriotic." By enhancing it with positive symbols (aka: Semiotics), you will create a generation of people who think it is wonderful to be patriotic.

Make no mistake, the Nazis were beyond patriotic. It should not be the country you support, but the cause. Of course, once you go to the cause then you are in the court of Reason and no longer the court of land.

Lazarsfeld (American side, of course) and Göring were genius': they knew the greatest danger of all to their way was critical thought.

That quote is the exact reason why I think the government had a hand in 9/11

Whether they did or not, I can leave to others to debate.  One thing is for sure: the administration knew how to use the events to get people to play in their hands.  It was fear and patriotism that led people into not thinking.  As Göring points out, those are the easiest ways to manipulate people.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."  Thomas Jefferson

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom ... go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels nor arms. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." Samuel Adams

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined." Patrick Henry
