I am an atheist, but I go to my church for many youth activities and am very involved as a musician, and everyone knows me and I'm just another one of the gang...no one knows I'm an atheist. NO one, at all, anywhere. And my new girlfriend is a devout Christian, and I feel like I should tell her how I feel, but I'm really afraid that she'll let her religious indoctrination control her into thinking I'm evil or I'll lead her astray or something. I am a moral and compassionate person, and I'm sure anyone would say I'm a good guy if you asked them. So shouldn't it be alright if I don't believe in Christianity? Or will she follow the Christian code and decide that either A) I must sincerely convert or B) She has to get out of the relationship for her faith's sake.

:( Funny how religion can actually destroy human compassion (NOT funny, really)

I am a Christian and my boyfriend isn't religious, but it doesn't matter to me. I love him anyway.

She might care, she might not. You'll just need to find out.

Yeah, she does Young Life stuff and her mom is a Young Life leader...I think it is in her PERSONALITY to be tolerant of my beliefs and not care, but I think it is in her INDOCTRINATION and BRAINWASHING to lose me. So it's a battle between her as a person and those around her that want her to conform :(

I just dont know which way it'll go. Religion can really warp people's actions...
