My laptop is slow. I have a Dell Studio and it's exactly a year old.
How can I make it run faster? I haven't downloaded anything onto. Does it just need to be defragmented? Does that even do anything?

run a defrag then download ccleaner for free and run a scan with that, both regular scan and registry scan. That should help. If it's still slow run a scan with malwarebyes (also free) or uninstall shit

I could recomend a few simple things to try out. Auslogics you can download and use to defragment your computer. CCleaner to clear out useless files (recommend before defragmentation). Check your list of startup programs to see what is running, to check out what is loading during startup and may be useless to you in the background. Uninstall things you are certain you don't need. And hopefully you have a reasonable anti-virus program that isn't dragging your computer down.

I advised you run Disk Cleanup, A full computer scan for anything on what ever anti-virus you have, Defrag, and update anything if it is out of date, your at risk everytime you get online and when you download something no matter what you have protecting you. So if you do download extra software it best to buy the actual product or get it from a trusted site which you know. I am a ITT graduate and I have a master in Computer Science: Programming, Network Secuirty. & if their is anything else you may need help or talk about I'm here if you want to talk to me.
