Just to try it, and i want to get a little buzzed. Not drunk. If i'm home alone some day for about 4 hours, is that a good opportunity to try it?

My parents have some chardonnay in the kitchen almost always, should I just pour about 4 ounces and drink it? Or should I try a can of beer...and do I need to chase it with something?

I've never done this, obviously

Wine will get you drunk quicker than beer, but it's best to do it with friends to be honest. It's more of a controlled environment and they can take care of you if you go overboard. And I doubt 4 fl oz will do much to you (well of beer anyway). One glass of wine is more than 4 oz and even then for someone who's never tried it I'd drink it slowly, the effects won't be immediate.
