If you're nervous about approaching guys for the first time or being around guys in general, whether you like them or not, DON'T be.  Almost ALL of my fellow male friends, whether popular or not are shy or nervous around girls they don't know too much about.  
 And if you're one of those bitchy feminists who've come to the conclusion that "all guys are jerks," 2/3 of the time, it's not true... guys are usually really shy or really capable of hiding their shyness... of course, this doesn't necessarily apply to EVERYONE, but it's what I've learned from high school ...

So unless you're strikingly unsightly, put yourself out there and be yourself and don't be afraid to approach us

You haven't been outside much lately have you?  Some girls are worse than guys when it comes to approaching, or being approached even.  I've gone up to girls and started conversation where they completely lock up like I'm playing a sick game where if they talk too much I push them off a cliff.

I don't know about two-thirds of guys being jerks but from what I see the percentage is closer to fact than fiction.
