Someone please explain this to me:
The age of consent in Massachusetts is 16, as specified by Chapter 265, Section 23 of the General Laws of Massachusetts, which states:
"Whoever unlawfully has sexual intercourse or unnatural sexual intercourse, and abuses a child under sixteen years of age shall... be punished..." However, Chapter 272, Section 4 sets another age of consent at 18 when the "victim" is "of chaste life" and the perpetrator induces them.
"Whoever induces any person under 18 years of age of chaste life to have unlawful sexual intercourse shall be punished." So... I understand that you can't legally give consent if you are under 16 years of age. But what if you are 17 and have sex with a 19 year old? You are over the age of consent... so when you're under 18 can you only have sex with people who are under 18?? This is for a class by the way, so don't just answer saying "it doesn't matter, no one pays attention to those anyway!"

It's illegal for the 19 year old to have sex with anyone under the age of 18. Yes, you're right that if you're under the age of 18, you can only do people under 18.

This Law most of the time doesn't really stand up much unless you'r in you'r twenty's and you'r doing someone under 18

Exactly the answer that I specified for people not to give.
I am in my 20s. And I am not planning on having sex with anyone under 18. I am doing this for school. So please give a helpful answer or don't post at all.
