It's been getting really hot lately...I need to start letting air under it. I know that much.

But, as of right now, it's trying to charge the battery, but isn't really doing so. It says it's charging, but nothing has changed in my battery life available.

And, for the past two days, I've noticed that there's been a flash across my screen. Like, a blinking black for a few seconds and then it goes away.

I'm scared of losing of my computer...:(

Omg your computer is posessed hun... but seriously I donno, that does sound weird... I don't know much about computer problems, but if that was happening to my laptop I would be so sad.

I think you should take it to a repair shop/somewhere that they can tell you what's going on with it.

I usually leave it on throughout the day. It gets shut down every night when I go to bed. It's a Dell inspiron 1521

I think you should try to defrag it, perhaps, and take off all the applications off that you're not using. If that doesn't help, maybe take it to a computer store. I'm sorry about that happening, in the meantime, I would maybe backup your files and stuff that you do not want to lose because my computer has crashed quite a few times, it made me sad, I'd hate for that to happen to you!

i would call Dell, my first computer was a dell and i had so many problems with it, they sent me a new one after my mom called a bunch of times, but since then i switched to mac.

still though, that sounds really weird.
maybe you just need a new battery? but call dell.

:] goodluck!

Turn it off whenever you're not using it. If it's a laptop, get something for it to stand on so it doesn't over heat. If it's a desktop, try taking off the side panels to let it "breathe". Also, open the window when you can, no use in trying to cool down a machine with hot air.

Don't worry about it. But don't leave it on top of clothes/soft things because it will cover the fan and it will over heat. If you leave it on a hard surface like a desk it should be fine.

I think that's probably part of the problem. It's very SLOWLY recharging. In the past twenty minutes, it's went up two percent.

I have my fan on in my room all the time.

I probably should try that.

there is a system error in the older dells, i believe,  where the tempurature thingy that controls the fan malfunctions and uses up all the cpu usage (can't remember what its reawlly called right now though)  there is a command that will shut it off and that might help, but then your computer overheats.  also, you could try doing what i did with my old inspiron, i took the fan out and cleaned it...  its recomended that it si cleaned every once in a while.
