So I'm thinking of getting Marine fish. I don't know what to do to make the water right for them. All I know is you have to wait a few months or something when the water is in the tank before you put the fish in. I just hope they're still selling those clown fish by then.Gah, ok I'm confused. Any help out there for me?
Would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Saltwater tanks are extremely difficult to maintain.
My brother-in-law keeps saltwater fish. He has had his tank for a year and has put the same amount of money into it that you would when you buy a new car. So, if you are not prepared to spend a hefty chunk of cash, just walk away now.

The fish themselves can cost hundreds of dollars a piece. The cheapest one my brother has is a $50 damsel.

This site will be useful:

It is an expensive and time-consuming hobby.

Have you ever kept fish before?

Don't cycle with fish. Just use ammonia or dead shrimp.

Cycling with fish is more expensive and usually you won't want to keep the fish you cycle with. lol

I've kept tropical fish and cold water fish but never marine fish.

well maybe you should have said you had experience in the first post. :P

it's hard to tell because there are some people out there who don't know anything about keeping fish and find some motivation for making a saltwater tank and have no idea how hard they are to maintain. lol
