It is my choice to believe in a higher power because, I can't imagine the universe was created by/from nothing to put it simple (thought I mentioned this in the OP?).
The higher power I believe in, created the universe, and it's true identity is the unknown. [ Opinion ]
This is my reason as to "Why".
Why is your belief any more rational than an Egyptian deciding the sun must be pushed through the sky by a dung beetle? I'm sure the ancients couldn't imagine the Earth's orbit.

What you say is true, mankind's current knowledge will always be subject to change. But who is to say the truth behind the creation of the universe will EVER be discovered? Only time will tell because it's still the unknown. And as a result we have spiritualists and non spiritualists. Until one day the world witnesses proof of the universe's creation, both groups will be neither be wrong or right.

No, we have those who jump to unjustified conclusions and those who don't.
The former position is inherently irrational and therefore cannot be vindicated (even if the conclusions are ultimately proven correct).
The latter requires no vindication.
