We're doing geometric proofs now in Geometry, and I have no idea how to get past the first problem. The problem is...

Write a justification for each step, given that ray BX bisects angle ABC and the measure of angle XBC is 45 degrees.

1. Ray BX bisects angle ABC
2. Angle ABX is congruent to angle XBC.
3. The measure of angle ABX is equal to the measure of angle XBC.
4. The measure of angle XBC equals 45 degrees.
5. The measure of angle ABX equals 45 degrees.
6. The measure of angle ABX plus the measure of angle XBC equals the measure of angle ABC.
7. 45 degrees plus 45 degrees equals the measure of angle ABC.
8. 90 degrees is the measure of angle ABC.
9. Angle ABC is a right triangle.

All I've got is this...

1. Given.
2. Definition of angle bisector (I'm not sure about this).

And that's all. I don't get this stuff.

1 Given
2 Yes they're the same - that would be because we've bisected the angle ABC
3 see 2
4 yep you told us that
5 see 2
6 again, see 2
7 just said that (in 6, though really it was covered in 2, which in turn is just the definition of bisection, which we were told at the start), why the heck do you feel the need to repeat yourself so much?
8 yes well done, you can add
9 gosh what a leap of faith that is.  90 degrees is a right angle!  never.

Are you on a maths course deisgned by complete morons by any chance?  They've made a question that requires one logical step after the information given take nine.  In the process of which, they have made something very simple quite confusing.  My version would be:

given that BX is the bisector of ABC and XBC = 45 degrees

1 ABC is twice XBC = 90 degrees
