My boyfriend and I asaw a copuple today...and they danced like angels. It was incredible, but what surprised us most that they were a bit overweight, but their stamina was...wow.

I don't know if anyone here knows what jive is...it's a very fast swing dance...and they were doing turns and chassés...and it looked like they weren't sweating at all.

We ...are out of breath after 30 minutes...are there any tips and tricks to change this? Breathing techniques...etc?

I mean he's basketball captain of his team...he has stamina and...I jog twice a week...

You just have to work out and dance daily and the continuous exercise will help improve your stamina but you must ensure you do it everyday and don't take breaks for a few days or you'll end up going back to square one. It's a lot of work to improve stamina and you'll just have to persevere.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned food intake yet.

Exercise and building up strength is definitely key here. You don't just automatically start a new hobby and become great at it right away. Train yourselves, and take it slowly, you're not going to get there by overworking yourselves.

Secondly, I'm not saying you have poor diets, so please don't take it that way. Another key factor in becoming good enough to dance just like the couple you saw, is eating right. I mean eating right in the sense of getting the nutrients you need from food that contains energy and carbohydrates in order to keep up your stamina. Carbohydrates provide energy that gets used by your body right away, or at least pretty much so. Don't overeat and don't under-eat.
